Claiming Heaven - Giclée Print

Giclée prints use 300gsm Fine Art 100% Rag paper. The print ensures the harmonic color intensity and sharpness which is achieved by the highest quality reproduction. The surface of the print is slightly textured with a chalky smooth cotton feel which creates smooth color gradients.

Giclée printing refers to the printmaking method that involves using a digitized image outputted from a computer to a large format professional printer. To qualify for the title of ‘fine art giclée print’ it should be made in archival quality paper and printed with pigment based archival inks, which are UV stable. To achieve a very high standard of color reproduction with neutral grays, a typical giclée printer will use a twelve color pigment based ink set. A giclée print made using pigment inks can be lightfast for up to 100 years

The quality of the paper used in the giclée print is very important. I use a 300gsm Fine Art 100% Rag paper. The final result is a superb giclée print often on the same media as the original artwork.

Giclée prints have a delicate surface so extra care is recommended when handling. They are suitable for mounting but the cotton texture may cause the edges to fray if not carefully handled.
