There’s a moment just before sunrise when everything feels possible. Horizon, part of Nostalgia series, was born from that feeling, a memory of standing along the coast of Karachi, watching the sky slowly fill with light, and sensing the world stretch wide and infinite.
The sculpture is slightly more than a semicircle, mounted on a base shaped by perspective. One side radiates with a vibrant, floral design inspired by the Dome of the Rock and the other, painted in trompe-l'œil, echoes the quiet intricacy of the Alhambra’s carved stucco.
Raised 36 inches off the ground on slender metal legs, the piece appears to float, like a rising sun made solid. It’s a daily promise: of renewal, of light, of warmth that always returns.
For me, Horizon is a vessel of memory. It recalls the shoreline of Sea View in Karachi, seaweed brushing across my feet, waves on one side, soft sand on the other. It brings back the quiet wonder of those early mornings: open, endless, and full of light.
